Meta Tag Generator FAQ

What are meta tags and why are they important for SEO?

Meta tags are HTML elements that provide metadata about your web page to search engines and visitors. They include title tags, meta descriptions, and keywords. Well-optimized meta tags improve your search engine rankings, increase click-through rates from search results, and enhance social media sharing appearance.

What is the ideal length for meta titles and descriptions?

Keep titles under about 600 pixels wide, roughly 50 to 60 characters, so Google shows them in full. Meta descriptions do best at 120 to 160 characters. This tool measures the title in pixels the way Google does and warns you when the title or description is likely to be cut.

What are Open Graph and Twitter Card tags?

Open Graph tags control how your content appears when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms. Twitter Card tags control the card on X (Twitter). Both create rich previews with your title, description and image, which get more clicks than a bare link. The Social tab shows both previews as you type.

How do I add meta tags to my website?

Copy the generated tags and paste them inside the <head> section of your page. Every page needs its own title, description and URL, so make one set per page. Download .html gives you a starter page with the tags already in place.

What size should an Open Graph image be?

Use 1200 x 630 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio, as a JPG or PNG under 5 MB. It works for Facebook, LinkedIn and large X cards. The image URL must be a full https:// address. The Social tab loads your image and shows its real size.

Can I import meta tags from an existing page?

Yes. Choose Import, then paste the page's HTML or open its .html file. The title, description, Open Graph, Twitter, hreflang and JSON-LD tags are read into the form, so you can edit them and copy a clean set.
